The Robinson Nature Preserve is one of Bradenton’s best kept secrets. It’s a beautiful space if you love the outdoors and want to step out of the local city scape for an afternoon of family fun. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are offered by reservation with Surferbus. Group camping is available by calling (941) 742-5923 in advance.
The expansive 600+ acre salt marsh is home to abundant wildlife including water fowl, jumping fish and extensive marine life. The coastal and wetland habitat has undergone a huge transformation, partnering with both state and local agencies and will continue an expansion project to conserve and preserve additional acreage.
If you love hiking, there are ample paths for walking, biking and running. There are paved trails providing accessibility for all. If you’re a birdwatcher you will not be disappointed with the immense variety of avian life – you may even spot a few rosetta spoonbills at dusk. If you’d like to fish, there are plenty of good fishing spots. There is also a 50ft observation tower, perfect for a coastal view – and a great spot to grab the perfect photos! Enjoy an afternoon walk through the pristine natural world around you. Pack a picnic for a pit stop lunch at the covered pavilion or one of the designated picnic spots. There are shade stops so you can cool off along the way and we recommend bringing water bottles with you to keep hydrated.
The Robinson Preserve is the perfect place for an afternoon outing with family to get you outdoors, expose you to nature, and allow you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world around you. Enjoy this Suncoast treasure!
