Altez Vacations Explores Sarasota Performing Arts Favorites

Sarasota offers a wide variety when it comes to performing arts opportunities across the city. There are a number of options ranging from dance and musical theatre, to live music, comedy and dramatic art performances. There’s something for everyone due to the breadth, depth and immense talent in the area. We recommend a few of our favorite, well-known venues below and hope you will enjoy them during your Sarasota vacation experience.

    Van Wezel

    If you’re looking for a big venue and an even more formidable entertainment experience, look no further than the Sarasota Van Wezel. The purple colored bay-front Sarasota landmark offers musical theater, orchestral performance, solo musicians and large bands ranging from pop to rock, to jazz in genre. The bright theatre is also host to visiting education groups and companies, which bring professional dance tours, Broadway theatre, community performances and comedians to the Suncoast. You can’t go wrong in choosing the Van Wezel for a date night and can add to your evening by enjoying dinner and a cocktail at the venue before the show.     The Sarasota Ballet

    The 2018-2019 Sarasota Ballet Season is called “A Season of Tributes” and will offer nothing less than exquisite performances under the direction of Iain Webb. The Sarasota Ballet includes a repertoire by some of the most well-known choreographers globally and is well known for bringing unique and visionary works to the stage.     Asolo Repertory Theatre

    The Asolo Repertory Theatre is a dynamic part of the Sarasota art scene. The not-for-profit theatre shares approximately 15 shows with the community per season and is home to over 100 art loving company members, employees, and directors who flock to the area from around the world. The repertory company works under the Producing Artistic Director, Michael Donald Edwards and Managing Director, Linda DiGabriele and serves over 100,000 art patrons each year. The Asolo serves as the home for the Flordia State Univeristy 3-year Conservatory Graduate Actor training program which accepts 12 students per year. for  Check out the action packed 2018-2019 Season here and immerse yourself in the endless talent found in this spectacular theatre!
